Mindfulness meditation is a practice of becoming attuned to our inner and external landscapes, and in the process becoming more centered in the present moment. During the practice, we’ll focus on one or more of the following: the breath, sound, bodily sensations, thoughts, or feelings. We may do other practices as well to help cultivate our attention to the here and now, such as walking or loving kindness meditation.

In the cacophony of our lives, our minds become very adept at switching from one task to the next. It is hard to find the peace and quiet we need to clear and calm our minds and hearts. When we do, or take the time to try, we glimpse the basic goodness of ourselves and the world. In this class, we will learn meditation techniques to gradually quiet our minds and heart. The instructions will be simple and straightforward, and we will spend the majority of the time practicing sitting in meditation. We will also explore ways to make our bodies comfortable in meditation, modifying for all states of health, and discuss easy ways to create a meditation practice in your daily life.
