Each year, Gilda’s Club Madison depends on the generosity of individuals, organizations and businesses to keep our red doors open. 

In 2011, more than 900 no-cost programs were offered to men, women, teens and children who were impacted by cancer. As an organization, we recognize that sustainable income is needed to ensure that our program remains free and accessible to all who need it. Individual donors currently provide 29% of our annual operating budget and events supported by individual ticket sales and corporate sponsorships provide an additional 51%.  The remaining program costs are supported by grants.

The Red Door Society was launched in April of 2012 to provide a vehicle for our supporters to help us strive toward our mission and reduce fundraising costs as we work toward sustainability. Donors who become members of the Red Door Society may pledge their support for multiple years at a level they feel is comfortable.  They may elect to make one annual payment or they can make a monthly payment using their credit or debit card.  There are five levels of support, but anyone pledging over $250 per year for a minimum of three years will be recognized as a Red Door Society member.

Red Door Society Giving Levels

Network Builder:  $250 per year

(or $21/month) for three years

This level of support pays for one of the more than 100 networking meetings offered per year. Networking groups allow our members to connect with others who are living with a similar cancer diagnosis or living with similar challenges (i.e. grief and loss or life after cancer).

Education Steward:  $500 per year

(or $42/month) for three years

This level of support pays for four of the more than 400 educational lectures and workshops offered each year. Our educational activities and lectures promote fitness, stress reduction, healthy nutrition, pain management and other benefits for those impacted by cancer.

Support Partner:  $1,000 per year

(or $84/month) for three years

This level of support allows Gilda’s Club Madison to offer five weeks of Kid Support, Teen Time, or Noogieplay. Alternately, this level could fund four of the more than 400 professionally-facilitated adult support groups that take place at Gilda’s Club Madison each year.

Program Sustainer:  $5,000 per year

(or $417/month) for three years

This level of support would fund twenty seven days of basic clubhouse operating expenses; including lights, heat, telephone service, internet access and program supplies. Alternately, this level of support would cover all of the repair and maintenance expenses the clubhouse requires in a typical year. 

Champion of Hope:  $10,000 per year

(or $834/month) for three years

This level of support will impact more than 1400 visitors to Gilda’s Club Madison annually and allow us to reach out to new communities, providing educational programming in targeted areas within our thirteen-county service region. It would permit us to continue fostering relationships with more than 250 volunteers who support our eight-member staff. It would give Gilda’s Club Madison the opportunity to grow and serve more of our friends and neighbors who are dealing with the impact of a cancer diagnosis.
