Exact Sciences and Gilda’s Club United in Mission
Exact Sciences has partnered with Gilda’s Club for nearly a decade. “Exact Sciences and Gilda’s are united in their mission to eradicate cancer,” shares Nicole Hessels, Senior Director, Wellness, Engagement and Experience at Exact Sciences and Secretary of the Gilda’s Club Board of Directors. “It makes us very powerful partners in the fight against cancer.”
“At Exact Sciences, we are passionate about having a positive impact in our community,” Nicole explains. Throughout Exact Sciences’ nearly 10 years of support for Gilda’s Club, they have engaged with Gilda’s in countless ways.
Engaging in the Community
Volunteers from Exact Sciences have regularly shared their time at the Gilda’s clubhouse by helping us rebuild after the flooding of 2018, making meals during Family Night dinners, volunteering at Gilda’s Club’s events, and more. Several Exact Sciences team members have been long-term volunteers at Gilda’s Club, serving on Gilda’s Board of Directors, on Club Red (Gilda’s Associate Board), and on other committees.
Exact Sciences has also provided financial support to Gilda’s Club which has generously supported both direct programming and sponsored Gilda’s Club’s signature events since 2014.

Nicole’s personal connection to cancer links her to the missions of both Exact Sciences and Gilda’s Club. Her mom was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2014. “We had a limited network,” Nicole recalls. “I think about how Gilda’s could have supported our family during this life-changing diagnosis. I’m awed, inspired, and motivated by the work that Gilda’s does.”
Nicole is far from alone in her link to our mission. Most Exact Sciences employees have a direct connection to cancer, and 92% say that their mission is their primary driver. Many Exact Sciences employees also choose to show their support by being Red Door Society members. Nicole explains, “I think that’s why Exact Sciences is thriving…it’s because the mission unites us.”
