How to Become an Individual Volunteer

You’ll first need to apply through our online volunteer application.

You can then attend a Gilda’s 101 Volunteer Training session or a Children, Teen and Family Program Volunteer Training session. You’ll learn the basics of our program and the benefits to being involved with Gilda’s Club Madison. Visit our program calendar for upcoming training sessions

Greeter/Clubhouse Host – Welcoming face and voice of GCM, duties include assisting member check in, answering questions, directing to meeting rooms, maintaining the homey feel of the clubhouse through light tasks (weekly or bi-weekly, 6 month min. commitment)

Goody Gang Member – Help prepare family night dinner for members attending support groups that evening, must be good at following directions and teamwork

General Office Volunteer – Assist with clerical needs of staff, copying, filing, data entry, mailings, etc.

Healthy Living Facilitator – Lead a workshop or activity you have an expertise in such as meditation, journal writing, sewing, nutrition, cooking, art, advocacy, etc. Proposals must be approved by Program Director in advance.

Noogieland Volunteer – Assist licensed mental health professionals in providing programming to children, teens, and families. (Children, Teen and Family Program Volunteer training required).

Clubhouse Social Events Volunteer – Help create community at Gilda’s Club through social events and activities that may include dinners, lunch-n-learns, entertainment, decorations, etc.

Fundraising Event Volunteer – Tasks will vary but may include; assist in planning event, acquiring necessary items, set up, registration, raffle ticket sales, swag handout, crowd control, clean up, follow up feedback, etc.

Outreach Volunteer – Represent GCM at health fairs and community events and/or deliver bi-monthly program calendar and event information to area hospitals and clinics

Professional Services Volunteer– Donate legal, public relations, technical, financial, program, medical, or other expertise to assist staff and board in operations and programming.

Glee Club Singers – Enjoy singing with others touched by cancer while bringing awareness of Gilda’s Club to the Madison area

Public Relations Committee – Grow community awareness of Gilda’s Club programs and fundraising events through expertise in marketing, media, design, etc. (Meets every other month – 1 year commitment)

Building and Maintenance Committee – Provide guidance and insight on the upkeep and maintenance of the clubhouse quarterly. (Meets quarterly – 1 year commitment)

Development Committee – Seek out, identify, and cultivate new individual donors and 3rd party events to financially sustain Gilda’s Club (Meets every other month – 1 year commitment)

Club Red Associate Board – Young professionals (aged 21-42) using professional expertise, experience, and contact to generate more awareness of Gilda’s Club (Meets every other month – 1 year commitment)

Group Volunteering

To get started, complete our Group Volunteer Interest form.

Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to discuss the volunteer opportunities best suited to your group and your interests.

Family Night Dinner Guest Chefs – Tuesdays 4-6:30pm come prepare a buffet style dinner for members attending Family Night Support Meetings (4-6 people)

Clean up Crew – Ensure GCM is a clean, safe, welcoming environment for our members to feel at home in by bringing your group to clean/sanitize spaces

Gardening – Bring your green thumbs to beautify the gardens around GCM May-October

Host an Activity/Social – Bingo, Karaoke, Dance Party, Game Night, any family friendly social your group wants to bring in for our members we want to hear about it

Volunteer at a Fundraising Event – gather auction items, registration, crowd control, set up/clean up

Hold your own Fundraising Event – Jeans Day, Office Supply Drive, Gift Card Drive, Healthy Activity Challenge, Biking/Walking/Running/Kayaking etc. Event, Music Event, Motorcycle Ride, tell us your ideas
