Monthly Game Night Brings Together Young Adults Touched by Cancer

“I look forward to game night all week!” one of our regular Young Adult Game Night attendees recently shared. The new monthly, virtual group is a place for young adults, ages 18-40, touched by cancer to connect with others across the country. The group features a comedian host, special guests, prizes, and lots of laughter. It’s organized by Gilda’s Club Madison and Cancer Support Community LA, and then promoted to young adults who are members of affiliates all around the United States. The event is also promoted by a growing network of young adult cancer organizations across the country.

“We’re proud of this unique, national collaboration and the much needed social connections that it provides,” shares Marc Korobkin, our AYA Coordinator. Monthly attendance has ranged from about 30 to over 70, with special theme nights being especially popular. December 2021’s sitcom-themed game night featured a celebrity guest appearance by Rainn Wilson!

The group is one of the many “silver linings” of us all becoming more savvy with meeting virtually, as it allows young adults, who are often “zebras” in the cancer community, to connect with others who share similar experiences.
